| A mailed update message from James
Daniell sent in Oct. 2003: Just dropping you a line to say that Steppin' Stone (as per your UK blues pages) are still live and well, if not gigging too regularly (only once every couple of months). The lineup hasn't changed so much, although drummer Rob Eyres sadly went downunder to Australia a couple of years back. In his place we typically have Evan Jenkins or Mick Morena (ex-drummer for Ian Siegal). Jonny Henderson is much more a regular too - fantastic player. Anyway, if you have a chance to update the UK blues pages, you might want to make those amendments - also that my contact is 07740 825 048. |

They have also been described as "…serving up some kind of twisted yet hip mix of sweet soul & disheveled blues to a loyal following…. combining it with hip-hop, Latin and funk rhythms from some of London's best musicians…." (BLUES MATTERS) and "…no overly-reverential museum piece…... work up their audiences into some kind of frenzy." (NZ BLUES NEWS) plus the telling "…the most fun I've had that didn't end up with getting thrown out a hotel room…" (Anonymous member of the crowd).
Repertoire?? Quoting their promo: "Curiously funky & soulful originals, and covers from the likes of:
G Love & Special Sauce, Macy Gray, Joe Louis Walker, The Red Devils, Rufus, James Harman, Bill Withers and Ann Peebles".
Red Devils? That's the stuff! Don't hear their name brandished too often!
