Pilgrim ”Pilgrim” (Dusty Records 2005) This has the kind of engaging charming sound that you have to think of reasons why you shouldn’t like - the songs are simply constructed from traditional country elements and performed with such an infectious joyousness that it is difficult not to get carried away with the Forsman sisters. You’d never know from listening that they are Swedish; the phrasing and harmonies are straight from the history books, the music too sounds spot on and the originals interspersed with standards are seamless. Their obvious love for the material shines throughout and it’s enough to remind you what’s great about country music. Highlights are originals ‘As You Walk by my Side’ and ‘Two-timing Darling’ which suggests that this is a band with a lot more to offer. DC
