Martin kindly treated me to an advance listen to four of the five tracks featured here. So I eagerly opened my ears - and my notebook.

“Too Expensive”, a frenetic number with Elias and Anders on pile-driving rhythm, gives ample space to Stefan, guesting harpslinger. Wail on brother, wail on!

”Early In The Morning” is of course the heartrending classic, here based on Martin’s reverberating slide, gliding slowly and sorrowfully all over the place.

”Cold Coffee And Dry Cigars” turns out to be a fast-moving instrumental with deft rhythm breaks. Örjan’s keyboard gets into a burbling, wheezing organ mode. And Martin goes for broke, reeling off biting staccato phrases on his Stratocaster. If you got it, flaunt it – and Martin’s definitely got it.

“Take Your Time” was so fresh out of the studio that it was not yet available to me. Still, I have heard a previous version by Martin and friends so I am fully prepared to vouch for it anyway!

Anders kickstarts the more traditional ”I Left For Another Angel”, quickly to be taken over by raw slide guitar sounds out of Elmore’s deepest cellar. Add Örjan’s tinkling piano and Martin’s world-weary voice – which completely belies his youth. A scorcher.

Five songs, five musicians. Great stuff. Gimme five!
