| Downtown Ramblers from
Göteborg are pleasantly difficult to label: a mixture of bluegrass,
folk and country.
The band's debut CD "Downtown Ramblers" features their
own strong material only. Eminently performed by Emelie Junsten vocals,
Pär Eriksson guitar/vocals, Oskar Reuter mandolin/banjo/vocals, Martin
Blomberg dobro/banjo/vocals and Karl Annerhult standup bass. If you have
listened to the group Dusty
Brown you might recognize the guitar player's name, Pär Eriksson.
So far I have missed out on catching them live on stage: I have to be
satisfied with "Been
so many places" on YouTube.
Their MySpace page recounts: "The Downtown Ramblers was formed somewhere
around Christmas 2005. The passion for bluegrass and country music grew
so strong in these five young musicians so they had no other option but
to start this band and over the last years the passion for this tradition
of music has not faded but is still growing stronger." |
